You know celebrities know how to work their angles. (Who could forget Angelina’s right leg?) But Instagrammers know angles, too. Take fitness blogger Anna Victoria, who really knows what it means to get her angles right.

Thanks to social media and our culture’s obsession with documenting everything, all the time, many people have learned ways to make themselves look their “best” in photographs (whether that be through Photoshop, slimming angles, or something else altogether). Because social media is supposed to allow others an unvarnished look into our lives, this can be easy to forget: We tend to believe that what we see on social media is, more or less, the whole truth.

Fit Body Guides founder Anna Victoria hopes to break that misconception down. As a fitness blogger—with 1.2 million followers—she knows better than most what goes on behind the scenes of every Instagram post: the editing of lighting, the working of angles, the subtle sucking-in and smoothing. So, earlier this week, Victoria posted a side-by-side pic on Instagram showing exactly how deceptive most social media photos are.

On the left side of the picture, Victoria is standing up, modeling a bikini top and a pair of high-cut briefs. Her stomach appears flat and muscular, and her entire body looks amazingly fit (which she is, of course). On the left side, we see a different angle of the fitness blogger. In this, she’s sitting down, making no effort to camouflage any part of her body. In contrast to the first image, this one shows a slightly less rock-hard version of her body; this is Victoria IRL and not flexing. The images were taken on the same day—presumably, just minutes apart— however, thanks to Victoria’s mastery of flattering photo angles, they look completely different.

In the caption, Victoria explained, “Me 1% of the time vs me 99% of the time. And I love both photos equally. Good or bad angles don’t change your worth….our belly rolls, cellulite, [and] stretch marks are nothing to apologize for, to be ashamed of, or to be obsessed with getting rid of!….This body is strong, can run miles, can lift and squat and push and pull weight around, and it’s happy not just because of how it looks, but how it feels.”

Victoria also implored her followers to adopt a more loving relationship with their bodies. She added, “So when you approach your journey, I want you to remember these things: I will not punish my body. I will fuel it. I will challenge it. AND I will love it.”

Victoria’s post has already amassed more than 211,000 likes. And really, it’s not hard to understand why: It can be difficult to accept our perceived flaws when everything is laid out on social media for the world to see (and judge). So to see a woman (and a well-known one, at that) embrace her body and promise to love it, lumps and bumps and all—well, it’s inspiring. And it’s damn good advice.
